Students study the structure and function of the human body, including organs, systems, and their relationships. A strong understanding of anatomy is essential for surgical procedures.
Medical Ethics and Professionalism:
Courses cover ethical considerations and professional standards in surgical practice, including patient consent, confidentiality, and communication.
Preoperative Care:
Students learn about the evaluation, preparation, and assessment of patients before surgery. This includes medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
Surgical Techniques:
Courses focus on surgical procedures, techniques, and instruments used in different types of surgeries, including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and more.
Postoperative Care:
Students study the care of patients after surgery, including wound management, pain control, monitoring, and recovery planning.
Anesthesia:
Courses cover the administration and management of anesthesia during surgical procedures, including different types of anesthesia and their effects on patients.
Surgical Pharmacology:
Students learn about medications used in surgery, including their indications, contraindications, dosages, and potential interactions.
Surgical Pathology:
Courses focus on the study of surgical specimens and biopsies to diagnose diseases and guide treatment decisions.
Patient Safety and Infection Control:
Students study measures to ensure patient safety in the operating room, including infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterile procedures.
Surgical Oncology:
Courses cover the management of cancer through surgical interventions, including tumor removal and reconstructive procedures.
Trauma Surgery:
Students learn how to manage traumatic injuries, including assessment, stabilization, and surgical interventions.
Pediatric Surgery:
Courses focus on surgical procedures specific to infants, children, and adolescents, including congenital anomalies, trauma, and diseases unique to pediatric patients.
Minimally Invasive Surgery:
Students study techniques for performing surgery through small incisions using endoscopic or robotic assistance, reducing patient recovery time.
Surgical Complications and Management:
Courses cover the recognition, prevention, and management of surgical complications, including infection, bleeding, and organ dysfunction.
